Last Saturday, a new social meeting place was launched in Bebra: the town hall market. After a year of intensive construction work aimed at barrier-free accessibility and a modern design of the square, the ceremonial opening took place. Around 150 visitors did not miss the fresh market breakfast, which was organized in collaboration with Bebra Urban Development (SEB). How East Hesse News reported, there was a selection of white sausage, Vienna sausages, rolls and pretzels that came from the Wagner family business in Seifertshausen.
Mayor Stefan Knoche and SEB managing director Stefan Pruschwitz served beer and refreshing drinks at the morning pint, supported by voluntary donations from the guests. This initiative not only shows a good hand in urban development, but also strengthens the sense of community in Bebra.
A new experience for young and old
The musical accompaniment was provided by the Bebra railway wind orchestra, which entertained visitors with melodies while children had fun in the new water fountain field. The Rathausmarkt is already perceived as the new center of the city and offers a lot of potential for future events. “This is a great joy after the construction work and the long waiting time,” said a resident.
At the same time, the weekly market, which is now taking place again at the Rathausmarkt, took place in parallel and has returned to its original location since August 16th. There traders offered fresh fruit, vegetables, sausages, eggs, flowers and regional specialties. “The new location is really successful,” says Susanne Müller from Fruit and Vegetable Dietrich and emphasizes the importance of such markets for the local economy.
