In Fulda, everything is all about reading this week! From July 3rd to July 7th, the city center becomes a big reading oasis when the "Stadtersen" campaign opens its gates. For four days, the Borgiasplatz turns into an inviting reading landscape, where visitors can browse more than 3,000 books. No matter whether crime thriller, novel or non -fiction book - there is something for every reading taste. The ffh reports that cozy bean bags and hammocks are waiting for the readers who can dive in a relaxed atmosphere.
Edi Leib from City Marketing Fulda emphasizes that “city reading” is not only a reading event, but also an invitation to relax. Various readings are on the program every day. For example, the well -known actor Rufus Beck will read John Irving at 7 p.m. from “Garp and how he saw the world”. Nobody can miss that!
a colorful program for everyone
Friday, July 4, should remember scary fans right away, because then Shaggy gets black into the role of the storyteller and makes the listeners shiver with creepy short stories. If you prefer adventure novels, you can listen to Dirk Hardegen on Saturday at 7 p.m., who will read from the classic "Treasure Island". In addition to these highlights, there is also a small stage on which visitors can present their own stories and texts.
The daily events start at 9 a.m. and take until dark. A visit to the reading area is free, so everyone can drop by. On the official website of city reading there is more information about the event.

But not only Fulda packed the "city reading" fever. This reading promotion campaign, which was launched by the innovation workshop Sebastian Mettler, also takes place in other cities. For example, Böblingen will act as a reading city from June 19 to 22, 2025, and here too, the citizens can look forward to a large mobile reading living room with over 3,000 books. The patronage of this regular action lies in the hands of the Austrian UNESCO commission, which underlines the importance of this project. Böblingen has emerged from almost 300 nominated cities.
With “Stadt reading”, everything revolves around the joy of reading, promoting exchange and in particular the coexistence in a relaxed atmosphere. No matter whether in Fulda or Böblingen - bookworms get their money's worth here. Pack your favorite book and enjoy the time in one of the most beautiful places in the city!
