Johannesberg fire brigade's anniversary celebration brings traffic chaos to Fulda!

There are big celebrations in Fulda-Johannesberg these days! The Johannesberg/Zirkenbach fire department is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a colorful festival program that was put on from Friday, June 13th to Monday, June 16th, 2025. A highlight of the anniversary is the parade that will parade through the streets of the city on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

The organizers of the anniversary celebration have come up with a lot of ideas to inspire both fire service enthusiasts and the entire population. The parade will start on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. on Zirkenbacher Straße and lead via Von-Mengersen-Straße to the courtyard of the Johannesberg provost. The traffic disruptions in the Johannesberg and Zirkenbach districts have already been announced and are expected to last from 1:45 p.m. to around 3:00 p.m. During this time, the districts of Zirkenbach, Zell and Istergiesel can only be reached via Gieseler Straße (L3079), while Harzmerz can be reached via Frankfurter Straße (B254) and the Kohlhäuser Bridge or through Fulda-Ziegel. The Fuldaer Zeitung reports that visitors can look forward to a varied program.

Celebrations and events

There are numerous other events on the festival schedule before the big climax on Sunday. A celebratory service will be held on Friday, June 13th, followed by speeches and musical performances. On Saturday you can look forward to a party evening with the band Speckdrum, who will set the mood with their mix of old classics and current hits. This musical highlight promises to encourage visitors to celebrate and give them an unforgettable experience. The band is known for transferring the energy to the audience, ensuring a good mood, the fire brigade training center further emphasizes the anticipation of the event.

As part of the celebrations, the Petersberg-Steinau fire department will also be included in the festivities with its 100th anniversary and the ceremony on Sunday as well as the demonstration by the rescue dog team at 3 p.m. This not only shows the tradition of fire service work, but also the social cohesion in the community.

A look into history

The Johannesberg/Zirkenbach fire department has an eventful history. Founded in 1875 with a simple fire engine, the volunteer fire department has developed into an important institution for the safety and well-being of the region. This long tradition shows how first-class fire protection and training have been continually advanced over the last 150 years. Frank Wörner, head of the fire protection and fire brigade history department, is a good example of the commitment that lies in the history of the fire brigade. The fire brigade historian was actively involved in various committees and is committed to the interests of fire brigade history, as mentioned on Fire Brigade Association.

Visitors and interested parties are cordially invited to become part of these special celebrations and to toast 150 years of full commitment and dedication together with the Johannesberg/Zirkenbach fire department. A visit is definitely worth it, because the mixture of tradition, celebration mood and community characterizes this special anniversary!
