Exciting matches and 6,000 euros: Successful Mercedes-Gleich Open 2025!

Last weekend the 29th edition of the Mercedes-Gleich-Open took place in the picturesque Haselgrund, Hünfeld. This popular tennis tournament, which has made a name for itself among both national and international players, awarded a total prize money of 6,000 euros. A total of 54 men and 16 women made up a high-quality field of participants, which also included some well-known players, including Facundo Mena, Peter Torebko, Steven Moneke, Marvin Netuschil and Ivan Nedelko, who is already ranked 235 in the world. The latter was already seen at the tournament last year.

The event was once again a complete success. The organizers were completely satisfied with the high number of participants and the tight schedule. The games were not only exciting, but also characterized by a family and sporting flair. Not to be forgotten were the positive external circumstances: the weather accompanied the matches perfectly and the number of spectators was pleasingly high. Five players from the Fulda district also took part and brought local charm to the tournament.

Prize money in tennis is changing

Prize money in professional tennis has increased significantly in recent years and is also reflected in tournaments such as the Mercedes-Gleich Open. There is a wide range of ATP and WTA tournaments: The Grand Slam tournaments, especially the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open, have the highest prize money amounts. A whopping $43,250,000 will be distributed at the Australian Open alone in 2025. The ATP Finals also offer significant sums of money to the top players of the season.

The Mercedes-Gleich Open shows that the prize money has grown not only in the world's largest halls, but also in regional tournaments. This shows how valuable and initial tournaments are for players to gain experience and further their careers. At the Mercedes-Gleich Open, the prize money distribution is adjusted to the players in different rounds, which makes participation particularly attractive for many.

The future of tennis

Another step towards equality in tennis is the aim for equal prize money for men and women. This is already a reality in Grand Slam events. Outside of this, work is also being done to create balance. The tennis-loving spectator wonders whether the developments in prize money, which have increased noticeably in recent years, will continue in the future. The organizers of the Mercedes-Gleich Open are optimistic that these developments could potentially have a positive impact on regional tournaments like theirs.

With a family atmosphere, a diverse field of participants and a positive atmosphere, the tennis tournament in Haselgrund remains a highlight of the regional sporting events. The mix of professional sport and local ambition couldn't be better and we can't wait to see what the next edition brings. We can only hope that the number of viewers will remain as strong and perhaps even increase in the future.
