Celebration of the 20th anniversary of the aid office in Hünfeld!

A very special occasion was celebrated in Hünfeld today: the aid office at the site, which has now existed for two decades, celebrated its 20th anniversary. District President Mark Weinmeister and Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok were on site to recognize the success of the facility. The aid office was opened on December 1, 2005 in the former F.C. liqueur factory. Aha opened and has since established itself as an important service center.

With around 100 employees, including nine new employees, the location in Hünfeld not only offered the most modern work space, but also the opportunity for many former employees from the Rhine-Main area to work closer to home. Mayor Tschesnok emphasized the importance of the aid agency as an employer for the region. The historic liqueur factory was extensively revitalized to create modern working conditions.

Services and digitalization

The aid office is a central contact point for over 210,000 people eligible for aid in Hesse and considers the merger of 14 independent aid offices at the Kassel regional council to be a great success. Hesse was the first federal state to introduce electronic aid accounting and today 63% of applications are already submitted digitally.

Another step towards the future is the introduction of the electronic specialist procedure “BEIREFA”, which has been in operation since 2020. Direct billing with hospitals will also be introduced to make the process of applying for aid for inpatient stays easier. Despite digitalization, around 1,100 paper applications are still processed every day, which underlines the high efficiency of the aid office.

Support in the event of death

The aid office offers comprehensive support, particularly in sensitive issues such as the death of relatives. To report a death, documents such as the long application and a copy of the death certificate are required. In addition, the widows and widowers of a deceased civil servant have an independent claim to assistance if appropriate funds are paid.

The eligible expenses in the event of death, which can amount to up to 1,200 euros, include costs such as the morgue, coffin, burial and burial. Both spouses and children can apply for assistance by submitting the relevant invoices. External persons who act as authorized representatives or estate administrators also have the opportunity to apply for aid provided they provide the necessary evidence.

With an expected sum of over one billion euros to be paid out in 2025, the aid office shows once again that it is an important partner for active and retired state civil servants and their relatives. The benefits are also valid for expenses incurred during the beneficiary's lifetime, which underlines the value of the institution.

In summary, the Hünfeld aid center not only shows with its anniversary how successful the integration of historical heritage and modern work processes can be, but also that they have a good hand here - both for the employees and for the people who depend on the support.
