40 years of green women: Volunteering celebrates big anniversary party in Eschwege!
On July 24, 2025, a very special anniversary was celebrated in the Werra-Meißner Clinic: The green ladies and men Eschwege/Witzenhausen proudly celebrated their 40th anniversary. These committed volunteers provide irreplaceable support for patients and their relatives in hospitals and old people's homes. At the celebration, which took place in the festive framework, the moments of happiness and thanks were made up close.
The managing director of the clinic, Christoph Maier, emphasized the great importance of the green ladies and gentlemen in his speech. "Your tireless use is not only a profit for the facilities, but also an enrichment for people who need help," he said. The green women have been active in Eschwege since 1985, while the commitment began in Witzenhausen in 1978. They also work in the senior citizens' home at the Brückentor and in the St. Elisabeth Hospital and are proud to be members of the Federal Association of the Evangelical Hospital Aid .

The event not only included honorable speeches by diaconal pastor Christian Rehkate, district administrator Nicole Rathgeber and nursing director Martina Wallbraun-Herwig, but also a contemplative prayer with songs and asked. Together there was a delicious meal, in which some of the long -term active green women were also awarded for their commitment. They received documents and beautiful flowers for up to 27 years of faithful service.
The green ladies and men are not only active in the region, but are also involved in clinics and senior institutions nationwide. With a total of around 4,800 volunteers in 455 institutions, the Evangelische Kranken- und Alten-Aid ensures that people in need of help receive the necessary support and support.

The 39th German Evangelical Church Day took place in Hanover in May. Under the motto "Brave, strong, courageous", representatives of the green ladies and gentlemen also appeared to present their commitment. This event made it clear how important the visibility and public appreciation of volunteering in health and elderly help, as well as the significant support from donations. These funds are not only necessary for presence and meals, but also to cover travel and accommodation costs as well as speaker fees.The volunteers face the next major challenge: The Bundestag 2026 , which is planned for 12th and 13th October in Wuppertal, is intended to better prepare the volunteers for the individual needs of the patient.
