Krauthausen in rest mode: construction site brings security and peace!

The renovation of federal highway 400 between Krauthausen and the B 27 brings noticeable changes. Since the construction site began in June 2025, traffic in the region has decreased significantly. This is reported by the HNA. Residents enjoy noticeable peace and greater security, which not only makes their everyday lives easier, but also increases their quality of life. The mayor Horst Linhose even describes the situation as a “dream state” for the residents of Krauthausen.

The diversion for traffic from the direction of Eschwege, which leads via Sontra-Weißenborn, is signposted, but trucks still come into the area every day and create additional challenges. Residents hope for continued calm until the renovation work is completed, while speed measurements in January and February 2025 showed that 63% of vehicles exceed the maximum permitted speed of 50 km/h.

Demands for more security

In order to address the traffic and traffic noise problem, there are several demands from residents and the community. These include a speed funnel and a ban on overtaking on the B 400. Another main concern is the introduction of a fixed speed camera in Krauthausen, although the testing phase for this is already underway. The noise that comes with road traffic is a major burden for many residents, which is why the current, pleasantly quiet phase is longed for.

According to the Federal Environment Agency the dominant source of noise in Germany. About 75% of people feel disturbed by this noise. With measures such as speed limits or the use of noise-reducing asphalt, residents could benefit from further noise reduction.

Successful construction measures in the community

Another bright spot for Krauthausen is the successful completion of the construction project to improve the sewerage system, water supply and road construction, which began in 2022. The city of Sontra reported that both the time frame and the costs were adhered to, which brings the construction project to around 560,000 euros plus the renewal of all water and sewer connections. Mayor Thoma Eckhardt and mayor Linhose are pleased with the successful conclusion, which is intended to significantly improve the infrastructure in the region.

The combination of less traffic and improved infrastructure could not only ensure a quieter living atmosphere in Krauthausen, but also help to sustainably increase the overall quality of life of residents. They now hope that the peace and quiet they have enjoyed since construction began will continue even after the route is opened until the highway is completed in at least five years.
