Tragic traffic accident: 67-year-old fatally injured near Frankenberg
A serious traffic accident on federal highway 252/253 near Frankenberg on June 13, 2025 caused a stir. At around 2:40 p.m., a 67-year-old driver traveling from the direction of Korbach crossed into oncoming traffic for reasons that are still unclear. In a fine right-hand bend, his vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming truck. Despite all the efforts of the emergency services, the driver died from the serious injuries he suffered when he was trapped in the vehicle. The police and emergency services, supported by the Frankenberg fire department, were on site to deal with the situation. WLZ reports.
The accident also caused significant material damage, estimated at around 80,000 euros. The incident received particular attention when the diesel tank of the affected truck was torn open and the fire department had to pump out diesel. The Frankenberg bypass remained closed between the exits to Rosenthal and Bottendorf until the evening, causing traffic jams and disruptions. An expert was requested to investigate the accident in order to clarify the exact circumstances of the tragic incident.
