There were recently two unpleasant traffic accidents in Korbach that are keeping the local police busy. Investigators are urgently looking for witnesses both at Elfringhäuser Weg and at the junction with Waltershäuser Straße/Arolser Landstraße. The incidents occurred on Friday, October 24, 2025, and on the night of Saturday, October 25, 2025. Particularly affected is a red Audi A1 that was parked properly and a sign pole there that was damaged by a careless vehicle. According to 112-magazin.de, the estimated damage to the Audi alone is around 5,000 euros, while the damage to the traffic sign costs around 300 euros.
In the first case, the Audi A1 was apparently significantly damaged by an unknown vehicle on Elfringhäuser Weg between 1:00 p.m. and 10:07 p.m. Witnesses report that a larger vehicle, such as a Sprinter, Crafter or Transit, may not have parked carefully enough, damaging the Audi's aluminum rim and both doors. Police are asking possible witnesses or anyone with information about the vehicle responsible to call 05631-9710.
Traffic signs affected
In the second incident, which took place on the night of Friday to Saturday, an unknown vehicle turned right from Arolser Landstrasse onto Waltershäuser Strasse. The unfortunate driving style caused the car to veer off the road and slide across a traffic island, causing damage to a “pass on the right” sign pole. Here too, the police are looking for any witnesses who can provide information about the circumstances of the incident.
More accident escapes in Korbach
The current situation in Korbach sheds further light on traffic accident escapes in the region. As the Hessische/Niedersächsische Allgemeine reports, there was already an incident on Thursday, December 7th. On that day, a black Opel Astra hit a Mazda CX-5 that was parked there while pulling out of a parking space. The accident was witnessed by several witnesses, with one witness even being able to give a license plate number of the fleeing vehicle. All of this suggests that the police in Korbach are currently particularly challenged to hold the fleeing drivers accountable.
