Future for Bad Arolsen: New life in the former BBW building!
Future for Bad Arolsen: New life in the former BBW building!
in Bad Arolsen there was a significant step in the newly planned use of the former training building of the Vocational Training Center (BBW) North Hesse. On July 10, 2025, the purchase contract between Bathildisheim and Arocampus Immobilien GmbH & Co. KG was signed. This contract marks a turning point for the property and its future use. The area of the sale includes a proud 18,154 square meters, which are now being brought up to a new provision.
The engineering office Gröticke und Partner GmbH not only becomes one of the main tenants, but also moves his headquarters from Twistetal to Bad Arolsen. The move of the more than 30 employees is planned for the 4th quarter of 2025, and with them there are extensive renovation work and the renovation of the premises. The new address of the building will be Mengeringhäuser Straße 5.
continuity in the educational institution area
It is important to mention that the professional education area of the workshop for disabled people (WFBM) will remain in the building. While the BBW Nordhessen is preparing to Kassel in the second half of 2025, the Bad Arolsen location, which includes various interim locations, is closed. Support from educational offers remains important, especially for young people with health restrictions or special needs. In the past, the BBW Nordhessen was a valuable facility that offered training positions in over 20 professions.
The move to Kassel to a modern center brings numerous advantages, such as lower paths and better equipment. A new boarding school near the new location is to complement the infrastructure and help the training participants to concentrate fully on their vocational training.
peculiarity of the training
The transition from WFBM to the general labor market is a challenge that many young people face with disabilities. Statistics show that only 1.5 % of the total training contracts in Germany are for people with disabilities. However, the BBW Nordhessen has played a pioneering role in the area of inclusion by offering young people both training opportunities and a place for personal development.
To make the transition easier, there are special measures such as supported employment, which aims to enable individual qualifications directly in the company. The task of these programs is to create social security places for people with disabilities on the general labor market and to give them a self -determined life.
Overall, the change of location for the BBW Nordhessen and the associated plans for the former training building of the BBW in Bad Arolsen will herald a new era for both the facility and for the young people supported there. This is also a clear sign of progress and inclusion for the region.
