Summer services: Literature meets faith in Treysa!

Treysa, Deutschland - in Treysa and the surrounding area you can look forward to something particularly exciting. The Evangelical parish of Franz von Roques starts a summer service series under the title "A different book" in July 2025. This innovative series aims to combine literary works in a way that celebrates both faith and reading. The first event will take place on Thursday, July 17th, at 6:30 p.m. in the bookstore at the Hexenturm, where visitors are tuned to the evening in a relaxed atmosphere with book test samples and a glass of wine.

The service series then unfolds over five Sunday dates, which start at 10 a.m. The topics include a variety of literary treasures: On July 20, the church in Rommershausen Alexander Peter Hebel's "unexpected reunion" will be illuminated, followed by Mihrigul Tursun's "Place without Return" on July 27th in the Stadtkirche Treysa. It continues with Jonas Jonasson's "Murderer Anders and his friends" on August 3. in the Frankenhain church, Max Lucado's "You are unique" on August 10th in the Treysa town church and finally Jonathan Franzens "CrossRoads" on August 17th in the church in Ascherode. The series shows how closely lived questions of faith are interwoven with different literary currents and thus opens doors for profound conversations.

Invitation to the discourse

Everyone is cordially invited to take part in these services - no matter how close to the church. The conversations and reflections according to the services should serve to research the topics of the books and their spiritual connections. This is also part of a greater movement in which literary and religious issues are increasingly interwoven. According to the Germanist Andreas Mauz, modern literature has become more open when it comes to the treatment of religious issues. Also in crime novels, which usually contain tension and education, there are increasingly notes of guilt, atonement and divine questions that can also be accommodated in the "A different book" series. The need for transcendence is reflected here, which many contemporary authors: Inside, as well as the late Bertolt Brecht, whose personal relationship with the Bible is known when he chose her to his favorite book.

In a time when the search for importance and spirituality comes up again and again, this series is a modern way to deal with faith and literature. And so the prospective reader is not obliged to read the works beforehand - the exploration begins here and can be continued in a lively exchange after the service.

other literary activities

But literary relationships are not only examined in Treysa. There are also exciting evening services in the ev. These services deal with similar topics by illuminating religious and theological aspects in literature. Visitors can look forward to works such as Gael Fayes "Small Land" and July Zeh's "lower", who also address current social issues. Here, too, it is discussed in an open liturgical form, which combines literary work with faith.

The emphasis on literary and theological topics shows that there is a growing interest in society to contact both together and thereby gain new perspectives. A nice trend that the Protestant parish of Franz von Roques takes up and continues in July 2025.
