New impulses for community: Workshop on third places in Borken!

A lot is happening in the LEADER region Schwalm-Aue! On August 26, 2025, those responsible will invite you to a special thematic workshop, which will take place in the “Glashaus” in Borken from 6:00 p.m. Under the title “Where we meet: New impulses for community places”, the event is dedicated to the concept of “third places”, which are intended to represent a springboard for a sense of community and exchange in the region. These meeting points not only offer the opportunity to meet, but also address the anonymity of today's society.

The organizers didn't miss the opportunity to present exciting practical examples. This is how the “Machwerk” is presented in Homberg (Efze), an extracurricular learning space that has served as an open space for encounters since 2020. The “Niemeyerhaus” in Hönebach, which has been operating as a village meeting point and cultural venue since 2005, will also be presented. This commitment shows how important such places are for the rural community. nh24.de reports that the workshop also offers the opportunity to exchange ideas about content and organizational issues regarding “third places” and to make new contacts.

In exchange for new ideas

The workshop should not only inform, but also inspire. Participants have the opportunity to discuss their own ideas and collect suggestions for future projects. The workshop becomes a place for exchange and networking for all actors and interested parties. This is particularly important in finding creative solutions to the challenges in rural areas.
