MT Melsungen is moving: New handball hotspot in the North Hesse-Arena!

Melsungen, Deutschland - something is happening in the Hessian handball world! The MT Melsungen, an established Bundesliga club, has an exciting news for its fans: From the 2027/28 season, the team will be in the new North Hesse-Arena Play. After long 20 years in the Rothenbach-Halle, which is located on the Kassel exhibition center, this step will provide a fresh wind.

The North Hesse Arena, which will offer a capacity of 6,200 spectators- consisting of 5,000 seating and 1,200 standing room- is also designed for ice hockey events. The ice surface is reduced during the planned renovation work, while the VIP and lodge range is expanded. In addition, new technical requirements and a large kitchen are being planned to ensure first -class care for the guests. The move is associated with a rental contract for five years, which is referred to as the turning point by the Kassel trade fair.

a holistic arena

The arena itself is impressed by the latest technology. With the integration of around 1,500 actuators and sensors, an intelligent system for energy efficiency and air quality is created. Kieckack & Peter with its Qanteon system offers central monitoring of CO₂ balance sheets and energy flow, which not only increases the comfort for the audience, but also follows sustainable guidelines. This system minimizes the energy expenditure and improves the air quality through fresh air supply.

Important attention is also paid to sustainability. This year, the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) awards the first sustainability certificate that is achieved by 30 clubs from the DKB Handball Bundesliga and the second division. The HBL thus clarifies that the clubs commit themselves to ecological, economic and social responsibility. Aspects such as a transparent CO₂ balance, social projects and optimized mobility play a central role here.

a sports campus for the region

The plans around the North Hesse Arena also include the creation of a sports campus, which, in combination with the Auestadion, is supposed to revitalize the region. The handball Bundesliga is also flexible about the schedule, so that the arena can be used in many ways.

The positive cooperation with the city of Kassel testifies to great hopes for the future. If everything goes according to plan, this move could not only be a good business for MT Melsungen, but also make a significant contribution to the development of sport in Northern Hesse.

With all these innovations, the MT Melsungen and the entire handball community are facing an exciting chapter, and the anticipation is great!
