Private audience: The Rolling Stones live in the Hofgeismar City Museum!
Things are currently very busy at the Hofgeismar City Museum, as the special exhibition “Private Audience with the Rolling Stones” has been open since August 10th. Until mid-October 2025, visitors can experience the history and uniqueness of the legendary rock band up close. This exhibition not only celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Rolling Stones' first German tour, but also the release of the iconic song "Satisfaction".
The exhibition contains a wealth of rarities for fans and music enthusiasts that Gerd Coordes, a long-time fan of the Stones, has put together. Among the exhibits are original diary entries from Evelyn Adam, who attended a concert in Münster with Gabriele von Pappenheim in 1965. These two students used self-made press passes to get backstage and had the unique opportunity to see Mick Jagger and Keith Richards up close. Alfred Adam, a contemporary witness, is famous for his memories, while the story became known through an article in Musikparade magazine. Many of the dented exhibits, including a signed "Satisfaction" cover, come from Coordes' impressive collection and from the contemporary witnesses themselves. The two women were asked if they wanted to come to the hotel with the Stones, but declined, which Adam now sees without regret.
Insights and highlights of the exhibition
Both Gerd Coordes and Evelyn Adam were present at the opening, which took place on August 9th. Museum coordinator Katharina Zeller explained that the idea for this exhibition came from Coordes and that visitors can understand the development of the Rolling Stones in a very special way. Among the numerous exhibits are not only a signed single cover, but also a gold-plated single that was once awarded to Mick Jagger. These collectibles tell the impressive story of a band that is considered the most successful band in rock history.
September 11th will be particularly exciting when Rolling Stones expert Olaf Böhme gives a lecture entitled “We Want The Stones!” holds. In addition, the film “Olaf Jagger” will be presented in the exhibition rooms on September 26th. Opening hours are Tuesday to Friday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and entry to the exhibition is free, although donations to support the museum's work are always welcome.
The Rolling Stones' legacy
Through numerous ups and downs, The Rolling Stones have established themselves as an essential force in music history. From their first appearance in Germany to today's successes on major stages of global festivals, which always attract tens of thousands of spectators. Despite personal difficulties, developments within the band and changing trends, they have managed to make a name for themselves as a live band. Their tours are not only lucrative, they are also a sign of the band's continued popularity. Another highlight now comes in old age, where the Stones celebrated their 60th stage anniversary in Europe in 2022 and once again thrilled the masses to continue writing music history.
For all music fans and nostalgics, the exhibition in the Hofgeismar City Museum is an absolute must.
