Energetic double concert: Blues'n'Jazz at the Baunatal Music School!

This Sunday, June 29, 2025, there will be music again in the foyer of the Baunatal Music School. The motto “Blues’n’Jazz” promises a lively concert in which two groups from the music school take the stage: the blues band Baunatal, also known as “BBB”, and the big band. For music lovers and those who want to become music lovers, this is an opportunity to enjoy rousing sounds and be inspired by the talented musicians.

The blues band will perform under the direction of Steffen Moddrow and will focus on the blues style of the late 50s. They do without the dominant electric guitar sounds and interpret well-known songs by greats like B.B. King and Frank Zappa as well as original compositions by Sven Krug. The band's line-up is diverse: from Steffen Moddrow (coaching, percussion) and Sven Krug (double bass, co-leader) to Alexander Thon (drums), Klaus Beinroth (tenor saxophone), Wolfgang Kaivers (piano), Sybille Styllos (alto saxophone) and Per Frankman (baritone saxophone, vocals).

A varied program

The big band under the direction of Detlef Landeck will also be used as part of the double concert. This has been part of the music school's institution for years and, among other things, gave an impressive presentation at the New Year's reception of the city of Baunatal in January 2025. With a special focus on Maria Schneider's compositions and arrangements, this ensemble will also delight the audience.

The concert is the crowning finale of an intensive rehearsal weekend for the big band, which took place over two days. After so much effort and commitment, one can hope for a truly thrilling experience. And the best part? Admission is free and donations are very welcome.

Opportunities and offers of the music school

However, the Baunatal music school doesn't just have something to offer today. In addition to the Blues'n'Jazz concert, other events are being planned. A Baunatal chamber concert with Eins68 (Rieke Callies & Angelina Krastel) will take place on September 28th, 2025. There will also be a separate event for the Jentzen Groh Sommerfeld Trio on November 15, 2025. Another highlight will be the evening “Klangfarben” on November 18, 2025 in the Baunatal town hall.

The music school offers a multifaceted program with elementary music education, instrumental and singing lessons as well as ensembles for all age groups. A painting school that offers space for creative development also ensures that art lovers get their money's worth. If you are interested in trying out the electric bass, saxophone, ukulele or double bass, you can do so as part of a trial month - including a free rental instrument!

The music school will also celebrate its 30th birthday with a special exchange with the partner music school from Vrchlabí. Guests from the Czech Republic can be expected in Baunatal from June 15th to 22nd, 2025, including a chamber and ensemble concert.
