Baunatal: Lisa Helten is the world's best materials tester at VW!

What a success story! Lisa Helten from Gudensberg-Maden showed what it means to get to the top at the Volkswagen plant in Kassel. The 23-year-old was awarded the “Best Apprentice Award” in Wolfsburg for her outstanding achievements, making her one of the best trainees in the world at Volkswagen. After her training, which she completed with top grades in June 2024, she now works in the plant's “subcomponent laboratory”. HNA reports that the honor took place in the presence of the VW board of directors and other honorees. A total of 48 young talents from 16 countries received this prestigious award.

Helten particularly emphasizes the appreciation that she and her fellow trainees have experienced. “It was an exciting exchange with colleagues from countries that often do not offer dual training,” she explains enthusiastically. This international contact gave her training a special touch. Lisa is also active in the youth fire department - a good example of how she gets involved outside of her job.

A look at the training

Volkswagen's commitment to training has paid off again and again, and how Volkswagen Group announced that a total of 1,175 trainees and dual-study talents started in Germany on September 1, 2022. The company sees training as the key to transformation. Around half of the new trainees found a place at the main plant in Wolfsburg, where numerous professions are offered, from electronics and mechatronics to new courses in the field of digital engineering.

There are currently 170 trainees working in 12 professions at the Kassel plant, including many technical professions. However, those interested should not hesitate too long - because the application deadline for the 2023 training year is February 28, 2023.

A career with perspective

Lisa Helten's case shows that training at Volkswagen can set the course for an exciting career. The company's great commitment means that not only the number of trainees is constantly growing, but the quality of the training is also maintained at a high level. Volkswagen Retail Services GmbH (VGRD GmbH) is one of the largest trainers in the car trade with around 1,300 trainees. VGRD offers various training and study opportunities.

One thing is certain for aspiring skilled workers: Anyone who decides to train at Volkswagen has a good hand for the future. Lisa Helten is not only a role model, but also a living example of how passion and training go hand in hand.
