There was a devastating fire in an apartment building in Neuental-Zimmersrode this morning, which caused significant damage. The incident occurred at 8:20 a.m. when the fire broke out in the living room on the first floor and quickly spread to the attic. Thanks to quick action, three residents of the house were able to be brought to safety in time, but two people were injured. A 45-year-old man was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation and burns, while another 54-year-old man also required treatment for suspected smoke inhalation, as Picture reported.
The fire brigade was on site with an impressive contingent of 65 emergency services from Neuental and Borken. Due to the heavy smoke, residents were warned over the radio to keep windows and doors closed to minimize the risk of smoke poisoning.
