Tour of hope: Cycling for children with cancer rolls into the Wetterau!

One of the most important charity events in Germany is just around the corner: The “Tour of Hope” is rolling through the vine-rich Wetterau this year from 7th to August 10th. The event has established itself since 1983 and aims to collect donations for children with cancer as well as their families and cancer research. This year the tour is carried out for the 42nd time and promises to mobilize numerous supporters and helping hands again.

With 150 drivers who pedal on their bicycles, the first stage begins on August 7 at the Stadtwerke in Gießen. This stage will be reminiscent of the roots of the event because it started in the Peiper station of the Gießen-Marburg (UKGM) University Hospital. From there, the tour continues through the picturesque landscapes of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, with a distance of 85 kilometers through the Wetterau, including Friedberg and Butzbach, on August 8th.

for a good cause pedals

The tour has developed into one of the most important charity events in Germany. Every year, the donations collected are forwarded to facilities such as children's clinics, hospices and research institutions. Last year, impressive 1.32 million euros could be collected, which made a total of 25 children's clinics and other institutions in Germany. Over the years, the "tour of hope" has already collected more than 40 million euros for a good cause, whereby all costs of the event will be borne by sponsors. The initiatives and facilities benefit 100% from the donations.

This year, the participants can also look forward to prominent supporters, including Stephan Leyhe, Markus Merk, Yemisi Magdalena Ogunleye and Johann von Bülow. This support not only brings additional attention, but also a positive signal to the donors and the cancer patients who benefit from the proceeds.

cohesion for a good thing

The "tour of hope" is not just a bike tour, but a sign of cohesion. The event is supported by numerous companies, especially from South Hesse. Erik Mölbert, moderator and managing director of the experience creators, recently revealed that over 100,000 euros in donations for the association for cancer and chronically ill children (VKKD) were collected. At a golf event in the Golf Club Odenwald, an additional 750 euros were able to flow into the donation pot.

With great expectations, the organizers look at the coming days. The association for cancer and chronically ill children plans to let the donations flow into important projects that benefit the families concerned. The tour not only supports medical care, but also brings a touch of hope and community to the often difficult situations of the affected children and their relatives.

be there and support the "tour of hope" - every donation counts. Further information and options for donations can be found on the official website of the tour of the hope as well as at cancer disease-kinder-darmstadt.de. Let us pedal for a good cause!
