Hessentag 2025: Bad Vilbel celebrates in colors and community!
Today Bad Vilbel shone in all its splendor: the 62nd Hesse Day was ceremonially opened at 1:42 p.m. in the historic moated castle. Hesse's Prime Minister Boris Rhein gave the official starting signal and welcomed an illustrious group of citizens, political guests and guests of honor. The opening was a feast for the senses, not only thanks to the musical performances by the trio “Colourful on Stilts” and the Burgfestspiele band, but also due to the intoxicating atmosphere that surrounded the city.
The motto of this year's festival, “We bring Hesse to the stage,” is reflected everywhere. Bad Vilbel's mayor Sebastian Wysocki described the Hessentag as a "booster for urban development" and outlined the opportunity that the event brings with it for the city. With delicious food and a colorful program, there is something for everyone.
Inclusion and community
Inclusion is very important at Hessentag: Bad Vilbel attaches particular importance to ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their abilities, can take part in the festivities. A highlight is the campaign in which Jason Giuranna, known from the KIKA program “Seeing instead of hearing”, greets deaf visitors with a video in sign language. Video suggestions for the sign for “Bad Vilbel” can be submitted until June 30, 2025 - a great initiative that encourages everyone to participate.
The diversity of the Hessentag is not only expressed in the participants. There are also numerous clubs, institutions and establishments involved that present all the facets of the country. Volunteer helpers, often referred to as the “soul of Hessentag”, play a central role and make a decisive contribution to the successful atmosphere and success of the festival.
A look at the events
The Hessentag in Bad Vilbel extends over ten days, during which citizens and guests are offered a diverse program. From concerts to theater performances to exuberant parties, there is everything your heart desires. The festival not only celebrates regional traditions, but also connects history with the present and shows innovations that make Hesse strong.
The Hessentag couple, Ena Kaufmann and Matthias Kallmeyer, also spoke enthusiastically about the great response and the great events. The city and the region show their best side and invite you to celebrate together.
During these ten days, Bad Vilbel is not just a place, but the center of the country. The opening ceremony ended with warm applause and plenty of confetti as Boris Rhein formally opened the event and presenter Yannick Schwander addressed the crowd: "Now we are the secret capital of Hesse. Make it your celebration."
