Important traffic regulations: Butzbach wine festival throws things into disarray!
In Butzbach the anticipation is building for the annual wine festival, which will make the city swing from June 19th to 21st, 2025. Preparations are in full swing, and with them the necessary traffic law measures to ensure traffic safety and order. The first of these measures came into force on June 13, 2025 to ensure that the festival runs smoothly. From June 18, 2025, there will be an absolute ban on parking in the parking spaces in front of Griedeler Straße 1-7 and 11-15. Additionally, the museum parking lot will not be accessible from June 19 to 21, 2025.
Further traffic restrictions are planned for the holiday, June 21st. Drivers must expect a ban on stopping in front of the parking spaces on Kirchplatz and access to the market square will also be closed from June 19, 2025 via Griedeler, Wetzlarer and Weiseler Strasse using barriers, passage barriers and concrete blocks. Anyone interested in driving along Kasernenstraße in the direction of Breiter Stein will also be faced with a barrier secured by concrete bollards. The traffic regulations come into force as soon as the corresponding traffic signs are installed.
Weekly market and traffic safety
On June 21, 2025, the weekly market will traditionally take place on the church square. The authorities have not made these traffic regulations without reason: traffic safety and order are the focus of these decisions. Taking into account Section 29 Paragraph 2 of the StVO, the organizer is not only responsible for holding the wine festival, but also for the necessary traffic control measures. This includes the installation of traffic signs as well as the control of the proper implementation of these measures, as the Kommunen-NRW states.
Visitors to the festival are asked to observe the new traffic guidelines and to be considerate of possible diversions and stopping bans. This is not only intended to make festival operations easier, but also to ensure the safety of all citizens.
A few kilometers further in Kulmbach, preparations are also in full swing for the first wine festival, which will take place on the market square from May 22nd to 25th, 2025. Here too, a series of traffic control measures ensure an orderly process on these festive days. The marketplace will therefore be unavailable from Wednesday, May 21st, 1:30 p.m. to Monday, May 26th, 6:00 p.m., which could make getting there a little more complicated for many. Festival visitors must be prepared for several diversions and closed roads to ensure safe access to the events, similar to what is practiced in Butzbach.
