Maintal mobilizes against violence: actions planned for November!

Something is happening against violence in Maintal. The city has set up an extensive action program for November 2025 to draw attention to sexual and domestic violence. Led by the specialist services for cultural education, youth work and the women's and equal opportunities office, there are numerous events coming up that focus on the topics of abuse and violence.

From an art exhibition to informative lectures – a colorful program is on offer in Maintal. The exhibition “Art Against Abuse”, which opened today and can be seen in the Hochstadt town hall until January 30, 2026, particularly stands out. The ceremonial opening will take place on November 13th at 7 p.m., with Marcel Kuring from the Southeast Hesse police giving a lecture. This is aimed primarily at parents and those interested in preventing sexual violence.

Actions for better awareness

But that's not all: In order to draw attention to the "Violence Against Women" helpline (116016), the women's advisory board will set up orange chairs throughout the city. You can see them in daycare centers, shops and community centers - a visible reminder that help is often just a phone call away.

In addition, a bread bag campaign is starting in the Maintal bakeries under the motto “Violence doesn't get into my bag”. Helpline numbers and addresses on the topic of violence against women are disseminated. This shows how important it is to integrate information into everyday life.

A program for everyone

On November 18th, citizens can expect a reading by author Jutta Reichelt in the Hochstadt Historical Town Hall, which deals with trauma. This comes on the occasion of the European Day for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation - another element that underlines the complexity of the issue.

On November 22nd, a civil courage workshop “Everyday Heroes” will take place in the Bischofsheim children’s and youth center, followed by a public performance of a play and a panel discussion. On this day there will also be a cake sale in the Globus market for the women's shelter in Hanau, a contribution that not only tastes good, but also does good.

On November 25th, the women's advisory board will invite you to a meeting in front of the town hall under the motto “Orange your city – no to violence against women”. Mayor Monika Böttcher emphasized social responsibility in dealing with violence and invited citizens to actively participate in the actions.

The goal of the month of action is clear: the aim is to promote the removal of taboos surrounding sexual and domestic violence. If you would like more information, you can find everything you need on the city of Maintal's website and the contact options for the specialist services. Above all, it is about every individual showing a good hand when it comes to violence and standing up for their fellow human beings.
