Attractive wage increase: More salary for painters in the Main-Kinzig district!

In the Main-Kinzig-Kreis there is exciting news for the 820 employees in 136 painters and paint shops. From now on, the painters and painters can look forward to a higher salary. The new hourly wage is now 19.42 euros, which means a monthly plus of around 90 euros for full -time forces. This wage increase applies retrospectively from April of this year and follows extremely hard collective bargaining, which have taken for months. On April 11, 2025, the parties were finally able to reach an agreement, and the collective agreement was signed on April 15. The GNZ reports that the wage increase is a positive step for the industry.

A big topic in these negotiations was the alignment of wages between East and West Germany. The new collective agreement not only provides improvements for existing employees, but also the increase in the minimum industry. From July 1, 2025, this will increase to 15.55 euros and will continue to be raised to 16.13 euros by July 1, 2026. The IG Bau had previously requested a wage increase of 8% to increase the corner wage to 20.37 euros, but the employer was a small offer. The German craft newspaper cited that the negotiations on March 5, 2025 had failed before the agreement could be achieved.

improvements for the trainees

The trainees in the painter and painter trade can also be pleased: from August 1, 2025, the training allowance increases by 50 euros per year. This increase will continue next year, so that trainees have a total of 100 euros more in their pockets by 2026. These are good news that shows that the industry takes the training of young talents seriously and wants to make the profession more attractive. According to the information of the DGB, the craft is thus strengthened.

Another result of the collective bargaining is that wages in the eastern federal states will be gradually increased to western level by January 1, 2027. The alignment of salaries is an important step in creating a uniform wage level for all employees and increasing appreciation for manual work.

With the new collective agreement, which provides for wage increases for both the West and the East, the painter and painter trade is better set up. The next challenges are now to drive the efforts to increase further wage increases in the summer of next year.

The employees in the painting trade can therefore look forward to a positive development. It remains to be seen how the implementation of the new tariffs will affect the industry, but one thing is certain: the craft has shown a good hand and will continue to fight for fair wages and better working conditions in the future.
