Honorary and pastor: Pastor Zwickl dies at the age of 87
Königstein im Taunus, Deutschland - It is a sad loss for the community: Pastor i. R. Josef Zwickl died on June 11, 2023 at the age of 87. The popular pastor was a central figure for many years in the parish community "Sankt Jakobus the older in the Upper Werntal, Poppenhausen" and has left traces that will have a long time. Fraenkischer Tag reports that Zwickl was born in Oroszvár in 1938 and was born in 1946 with his family to Germany. After his school days in the high school of displaced people in Königstein in Taunus, he studied theology in various cities, including Königstein, Innsbruck and Würzburg.
On June 29, 1965, Zwickl in Bad Kissingen was ordained a priest by Bishop Josef Stangl. His versatile career initially led him as a chaplain to Großwallstadt, Norsbach and Aschaffenburg-Sanct Michael. In 1970 he took over the Kuratie in Aura in the sense of sense and was involved in the Deanery in Gemünden from 1971 to 1975. The official farewell to Zwickl took place in a solemn service in the Poppenhäuser Church, with representatives from politics, the dean's office and numerous believers being present to give him a proper execution. Mayor Reinhold Stahl praised Zwickl's tireless efforts for the community and his valuable contact with people. After the service, the community came together in a standing reception in the parish home, where music clubs, choirs and parishioners celebrated Zwickl's work. In January 2023, Pastor Zwickl retired after more than 20 years in Poppenhausen. Zwickl was active and committed right from the start, and even after his official farewell, he continued to provide pastoral care in various parish communities by 2023. Most recently he lived in Feucht while he continued his pastoral work in the region. The loss of Pastor Zwickl leaves a large gap in the community that will remember his deeds and the many years of lines. The burial will still be announced.
