Mainz 05: This is how 5,000 fans are preparing for the derby in Frankfurt!

Sunday is all about football for the fans of Mainz 05. On November 7th, 2025 they will play in the away game in Frankfurt. Almost 5,000 fans have already secured tickets, meaning the guest area is already sold out. A huge crowd that only increases the anticipation for the game. The journey to this event is well thought out. Buses from Mainz depart from MEWA ARENA at 4:30 p.m., while additional buses depart at 3:15 p.m. from various points such as Bohr Insel, Argenthal and Rheinböllen. A return journey on the same buses is available to all passengers, and the forest car park is recommended for car drivers. The fee is 9 euros and the car park opens three hours before kick-off. Another parking space, the Isenburger Schneise, is also available, but only with advance reservation at a price of 5 euros. Please note: The “Gleisdreieck” car park is reserved for home fans.

Important information for your arrival

For everyone who wants to travel by train, there is a special Deutsche Bahn relief train. This departs from MZ Hbf at 4:26 p.m. and reaches the stadium in Frankfurt at 4:51 p.m. The return journey is scheduled for 10:23 p.m., arriving in Mainz at 10:51 p.m. A good tip for first-time visitors: Bring as little luggage as possible, as there are only a limited number of lockers available in the stadium. What you can take with you, however, are liquids in the form of 0.25l drinking packets and e.g. E.g. fruit or small snacks. By the way: drinking water is free!

But not everything is allowed. Large bags or backpacks are prohibited, as is bringing spray cans or unconstitutional symbols. The permitted fan paraphernalia also ensures a relaxed atmosphere, as 15 waving flags as well as numerous drums and megaphones are welcome. Cannabis possession is permitted in the stadium, but consumption is strictly prohibited.

The stadium opens its gates at 5:30 p.m., two hours before kick-off. If you still want to get hold of fan merchandise, it's best to come early, as long queues cannot be ruled out. Whether scarves, T-shirts or jerseys – the selection on site is diverse. And creative: Many fans have their hoodies or shirts printed with player numbers and names. A little tip for new fans: If you're traveling by car, it's better to leave your fan clothing in the trunk to avoid negative reactions in the city.
