In 2023, the wage landscape in Hesse will have changed significantly. Frankfurt employees can look forward to the highest salaries in the entire state: with an average of 59,230 euros annually, wages in the Main metropolis are well above the national average of 48,470 euros. Upswing in the districts

The Hochtaunuskreis recorded the largest increase per capita in 2023: a whopping 4,230 euros more than in the previous year, which corresponds to an increase of 8.5 percent. This means that the average wages in the Hochtaunus district are 54,210 euros. In contrast, the Vogelsberg district was on the losing side of wage development, with an increase of only 1,920 euros and total earnings of 43,230 euros.

Development of the wage gap

The wage gap in Hesse will be 8.0 percent in 2023 and has therefore fallen compared to the 9.0 percent in 2021.
