The height rescuers from the Wiesbaden fire department had come up with a very special surprise for the residents, especially the children and young adults. In a great event, the firefighters, dressed as Santa Claus and animal companions, rappelled down from the turntable ladder and brought lovingly wrapped gifts with them.

They were visited by Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende, who confirmed how important such actions are. “Putting a smile on children’s faces in difficult times is a matter close to our hearts,” said Dirk Schwarz, deputy head of the Wiesbaden fire department. This campaign was created as part of a Germany-wide tradition of the special units for rescue from heights and depths (SRHT), which are committed to providing carefree moments for children with serious illnesses or disabilities.
