Montego Maassen: Chasing points in Spa-Francorchamps!

Next weekend there will be a very special highlight for the young racing drivers of the French FFSA Formula 4 Championship: from June 20th to 22nd, 2025 they will race on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium. The third race weekend of the season promises exciting duels and thrilling action, and Montego Maassen from Hofheim am Taunus is determined to continue his successful results from Dijon. ADAC Motorsport reports that Maassen achieved two third places in Dijon and thus improved his overall standings. Now he even sees Spa as his home race, as it is the only race outside France.

With a track length of 7,004 kilometers, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most demanding in international motorsport. The mix of fast corners, long straights and moving terrain pushes drivers to the limits of their abilities. Whether Maassen can carry the momentum from Dijon into the Ardennes remains to be seen, especially as he wants to collect more points to cement his place in the championship.

A look at the championship and the participants

This year, French Formula 4 was distinguished not only by the exciting championship mode, but also by the high number of participants. A total of 30 drivers from different countries will take part. A highlight is the participation of six female drivers, which further raises the level of the event. FFSA highlights that in addition to Maassen, talents such as Malo Bolliet and Mattéo Giaccardi are also represented at the end of the field. The structure of the races has also changed: New are the longer race durations of 30 minutes and a new starting grid system that provides additional thrills. The first race will start based on the best qualifying times, the second with a reversal of the top ten positions and in the third race the drivers will start based on the second best time from qualifying. That makes it even more exciting!

Talents of the ADAC Formula Junior Team

There are also three promising drivers active as part of the ADAC Formula Junior Team this season, whose performances can be followed with excitement: Finn Wiebelhaus, who won the ADAC Kart Masters championship in 2022, Tom Calendar, who is switching to single-seater racing as junior runner-up in the German Kart Championship, and Max Reis, who already has experience in French Formula 4 and achieved an impressive second place in Pau last year could.
