Thunderstorms and heat waves: Chaos weather awaits in Hesse!

The weather in Hesse remains exciting and brings with it a mixture of summer heat and the threat of thunderstorms. How FR.de reports, severe weather conditions are expected for the weekend. At the beginning of the week the sun predominates, but appearances are deceptive: strong thunderstorms play an important role.

The Odenwaldkreis as well as the Bergstrasse, Darmstadt-Dieburg and Groß-Gerau districts are currently affected by a heat warning that applies up to a height of 200 meters. The German Weather Service (DWD) reports that temperatures in the southern regions can rise to a scorching 34 degrees Celsius. So you should stock up on plenty of drinks and sunscreen in good time to beat the heat.

Forecast for the coming days

However, as the DWD further states, the hot days can change quickly. After today's Tuesday, which promises sunny and warm, thunderstorms and rain are already forecast for Thursday. There can even be stormy gusts in the evening hours. It will be significantly cooler in the higher elevations - temperatures of around 24 degrees can be expected here, while in the lowlands the sun will cause heat. Evening temperatures will also fluctuate and could drop to 14 degrees.

There will be a gradual relaxation on Friday: the thunderstorms will subside and the temperatures will fluctuate between 23 and 28 degrees - ideal for a little break outdoors. Friday will be milder before temperatures rise again next weekend and a maximum temperature of up to 33 degrees can be reached.

Severe weather warnings and safety measures

The severe weather center has also provided an overview map for Hesse that shows the current severe weather risks at any time. In areas such as the Reinhardswald, the Habichtswald and the Wetterau, citizens should be careful. Advance warnings are issued up to 48 hours in advance, while acute warnings indicate the arrival of a natural hazard. Severe Weather Center explains the different warning levels: from moderate (orange) to severe storms (red).

Nevertheless, regardless of whether it is heat or a thunderstorm, the weather keeps people in Hesse on tenterhooks. It remains to be seen how the weather will develop further. Everyone should be advised to stay well informed and prepare for dynamic weather changes!
