TV Alsfeld: Basketball youth is planning new teams for the season!
The TV Alsfeld basketball players recently completed their season and look back enthusiastically on the experiences of the past few months. A highlight was undoubtedly the visit to the Fraport Skyliners in Frankfurt, where the Alsfeld players were able to watch an exciting game that the Skyliners narrowly won. On this occasion, the young basketball players could not only watch the professionals, but also take part in the kids tunnel and high-five with the stars. A parent, Jörg Soßdorf, had a special experience when he attempted a half-court shoot but unfortunately missed the cash prize. After the game, there was an autograph hunt where the young athletes were able to collect memories from their idols.
The end of the U12 season was another highlight, which was celebrated with a social gathering with parents, players and coaches. Parent-child basketball games and other games such as badminton, spikeball and table tennis provided a lot of fun, while the smell of freshly grilled sausages hung in the air.
Outlook for the new season
The Volcanos have big plans for the coming season and would like to register four teams:
- Ein U12-Kreisligateam (Jahrgänge 2014 und 2015)
- Ein U14-Bezirksligateam (Jahrgänge 2012 und 2013)
- Ein U18-Landesligateam
- Ein Herrenteam in Kreisliga B
The U12 team will consist of players from the U12 and U10 (born 2016/2017) and is still looking for young talent. The U14 also needs teammates and is planning a development season to further promote the talent. New additions are also expected in the U18 as they will compete in the district league.
Commitment in schools
As part of its efforts to promote enthusiasm for basketball, TV Alsfeld carried out elementary school activities at the Gerhard Hauptmann School and the city school. Here the students had the opportunity to acquire the coveted bronze ball game badge, which will certainly make it easier for any talent to take their first steps into the sport.
Together with the initiative of the German Basketball Federation, which is supported by the infographics to promote young talent in basketball, TV Alsfeld is committed to the development of young athletes. These fact sheets, which were created in collaboration with the leading associations, offer a clear representation of the promotion of young competitive sports in Germany and can support the club in the further development of its programs and structures. Adam Ligocki, the DBB's athletic director, highlights the importance of these resources and how they can benefit athletes and coaches.
