There is a lot on offer in East Hesse on the first weekend in December. The Christmas markets have already opened their doors and invite you to stroll and enjoy. The Christmas market in Alsfeld began on Friday, December 5th, and now offers around 20 stalls, a varied music program and a nostalgic carousel. On Saturday, December 6th, there is a mulled wine evening with live acts and a Santa Claus event on the program that will delight young and old. If you look around Künzell, you will also find a festive atmosphere. The “Neue Mitte” square has been shining with lights since Friday, December 5th. In Schlitz, Castle Christmas is celebrated on the Advent weekends, including December 6th. From 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitors can enjoy the market with its colorful stalls and music. The highlight is the impressive 42 meter high candle, which is festively lit. On Friday there was a mulled wine evening with live music, which has already attracted the first mulled wine lovers and music lovers.

Another highlight, which takes place on Saturday, December 6th, is the trip on the Santa Claus Express from Treysa to Fulda. The historic steam locomotive 35 1097 not only offers a nostalgic experience, but also a 30-minute break in Bad Hersfeld. The Christmas tree sale in Eichenzell-Kerzell provides a little adventure and an icy change. Here you can find everything from Nordmann fir trees to bratwurst and mulled wine, while the Lyra Kerzell music club will provide festive sounds at 11:30 a.m. and lift the holiday spirit.

Special activities and musical highlights

A gift bag campaign for truck drivers starts in Petersberg-Marbach on Saturday from 10 a.m. Andrea Henz and Henry Carl pack 150 bags that will be distributed along the A7 on December 25th and 26th with the support of Mayor Claudia Brandes. A nice sign of appreciation in today's hectic times!

The “Musical Vespers for Advent” in the Bad Hersfeld town church brings festive Christmas melodies to the hearts of listeners on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 7th at 4:00 p.m. Over 180 students will do their best at these concerts to properly celebrate the contemplative time.

For anyone who wants to explore a little further, the Christmas markets in Bavaria have a lot to offer.
