Terrible accident on B27: Two people seriously injured!

A serious traffic accident occurred on Sunday evening, December 8, 2025, on the B27 between Ludwigsau-Mecklar and Ludwigsau-Reilos. According to Osthessen News, the Hersfeld-Rotenburg control center was alerted at 6:47 p.m. after two cars were involved in a terrible crash. Two people were trapped in this accident, which led to the fire department being called out immediately.

Two units were on site: the Ludwigsau fire department, fire department 1, and the Bad Hersfeld fire department, which were alerted at 6:46 p.m. The rescue workers found a car lying on its side in the ditch behind the guardrail. The driver was trapped in the foot area. The fire brigade reacted quickly and folded the roof of the vehicle to the side in order to free the driver using a chain rescue.

Rescue measures in detail

In the second vehicle, a red Mercedes, there was a 23-year-old driver who was also trapped. She, too, was finally freed using technical rescue measures and handed over to the rescue service. Both people were taken to a nearby hospital. However, details on the severity of the injuries have not yet been released.

The course of the accident itself remains unclear, which is why an expert was appointed to reconstruct the events. During these dramatic situations, around 60 emergency services were on site, who were also responsible for illuminating the scene. The B27 remained completely closed until around 8 p.m. and traffic was rerouted accordingly to enable the rescue work to proceed smoothly.

Previous missions in context

The serious accident on the B27 is reminiscent of other technical assistance operations in recent years, such as an incident in September 2022 on the B217 in Weetzen. Several people had to be rescued there after a car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with an SUV. In this case, too, numerous emergency services, including the Hanover professional fire department and several volunteer fire departments, were on site to care for the injured and secure the scene of the accident. These tragic incidents show how important rapid and well-coordinated rescue efforts are to help people in emergencies.

The fire brigade and rescue services do valuable work even in such challenging situations. It is hoped that the two people affected will get better soon and the cause of the accident can be clarified soon.
