Marina Lötschert shines as Calamity Jane at the Bad Hersfeld Festival!

The Bad Hersfeld Festival is just around the corner and promises a brilliant program for theater lovers. Next Friday the open-air theater festival opens with the Shakespeare tragedy “King Lear”. Director Joern Hinkel announced a fascinating piece that will be staged as a mixture of political thriller and family drama. The festival is a highlight of the cultural season and expects numerous prominent guests, including the new mayor Anke Hofmann, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser and Hesse's Prime Minister Boris Rhein, who officially opens the season. Stars such as actresses Anja Kruse and Elisabeth Lanz as well as athletes such as footballer Nia Künzer will also be present to celebrate the event.

A special highlight in this year's series are the appearances of Marina Lötschert, who will not only be seen in the new production of "Wie im Himmel" as Amanda, but also as cook Maria in "Midsummer Night's Dreams". Lötschert has already appeared in “Like in Heaven” in 2024 and is an important part of the local village community. Her career as an actress began many years ago when she took on the role of Calamity Jane in a theme park. Her versatile nature and ability to embody dark characters make her a sought-after artist. She also has two daughters, aged 14 and 16, who provide great support for her career.

Versatile program with new productions

This year the Bad Hersfeld Festival runs for eight weeks and ends on August 27th. In addition to “King Lear”, five other plays, a musical and a musical supporting program are offered. The premiere of “King Lear” is followed on Saturday by the highly anticipated musical “Jesus Christ Superstar,” in which Andreas Bongard takes on the leading role of Jesus of Nazareth. Also the production of “The Dead Poets Society” and the comedy “No to Money!” are on the program, while the play “The Little Ghost” will be performed for children from July 7th.

The production of “Midsummer Night's Dreams” is also being followed particularly closely, in which Lötschert breathes life into her role as cook Maria. Her rehearsal work with director Joern Hinkel brings a lot of fresh air to the piece. She is also excited about designing her costumes, especially the skirt she will wear in “Midsummer Night’s Dreams.” The festival team has prepared for an exciting season with a budget of 7.6 million euros in which art and culture are very popular.

The opening of the festival will take place in the impressive setting of the monastery ruins, which will add additional splendor to the atmosphere of the festival. With an attractive program that includes both classics and new works, the Bad Hersfeld Festival is a cultural highlight that no theater lover should miss. Performances begin on June 20th and the revival of As in Heaven opens on July 25th, which only increases the anticipation for these special performances.

[HNA] reports that Lötschert is a versatile actress who also enjoys evil roles, and [Hessenschau] points out the festivities that are expected to roll out the red carpet at the festival's opening.
