Animal shelter Fulda-Hünfeld celebrates 50 years: a festival for animal welfare and joy!
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, the 50th anniversary of the Fulda-Hünfeld e.V. animal shelter was celebrated in the Michelsrombacher Forest with a lavish summer party. The event attracted numerous visitors who were able to enjoy a colorful program from 12 p.m. when the weather was nice. Board members Simon Euting and Silvia Pietrek have organized a festival together that had many highlights ready for young and old. The celebration was drawn by the live music of the talented Kathi Heumüller, an impressive demonstration of the Vogelsberg rescue dog squadron and various activities for children, including face painting and an exciting schnitzel hunt.
The opportunity was particularly gratifying to take souvenir photos with the professional photographer Kerstin Junker. In the middle of the hustle and bustle, the guests of honor, including Heiko Stolz, Mayor of Neuhof, and his wife Stephanie, were also on site to appreciate the shelter and his services. Proudly expressed gratitude about the support of the municipality and emphasized how important the work of the shelter is for the community. Simon Euting spoke openly about the ups and downs of the past five decades and the success in the mediation of animals.

The culinary offer of the summer festival also left nothing to be desired. From lunch from grill to a diverse salad buffet to vegan alternatives, crepes, coffee and homemade cake. The visitors came not only because of the delicious meal - many also bought cuddly toys from the sales booth, whereby the net proceeds of the day benefit directly to the animal inhabitants of the home.
The enthusiasm of those present spoke for themselves. Antonia and Martin, who had come especially for the festival, told about their positive experiences with the shelter and their personal connections to the animals living there. Such reports show how deeply rooted the animal shelter is in the region and what importance it has for many people.
animal welfare and animal welfare in focus
But the focus was not only on the anniversary itself, but also the topic of animal welfare. This persistent discourse is becoming increasingly important in society. A survey shows that 68 percent of consumers attach great importance to cosmetics -free cosmetics. Animal welfare is also a central concern with regard to the 34 million pets held in Germany, such as dogs and cats. The population is increasingly aware of their responsibility with regard to species -appropriate attitude and care of the animals. In Germany there are even special reports regarding animal husbandry identifiers to improve animal welfare and to raise consumers' awareness.
Overall, the anniversary festival not only became a solemn occasion, but also a platform to draw attention to the needs and safety of animals. The Fulda-Hünfeld animal shelter is a lively proof that commitment and community spirit are the basis for a successful future in animal welfare. If you want to support the shelter and your projects, you are welcome to inform yourself and get involved in the home via the website or directly about the contacts.
The animal shelter once again thanked all visitors, helpers and sponsors who contributed to the success of this special day. For the coming years, it remains to be seen how things will happen, but one thing is certain: the shelter will continue to be a reliable partner for animals and its new owners.
