At the weekend, people flock to the magnificent castle courtyard of Burghaun, where the 41st artisan market was opened. Mayor Dieter Hornung underlined the shady and cool atmosphere of the event location at 12 p.m. The offer ranges from creative products for home and garden to exclusive decorative pieces and handmade jewelry. This year, the organizers attach particular importance to the fact that only traditional craftsmanship is presented - "by us, for us", as Hornung aptly expresses it. International commitment has no place in this market.
Special highlights are the demonstrations in which domestic craftsmen and artists show their techniques. There is a lot from the works of art: fabrics and clothing for children and adults can be found in addition to unusual decorative items. Culinary visitors also get their money's worth. Grilled, refreshing ice cream and homemade cakes from country women from Burghaun and Rothenkirchen take care of the physical well -being. In order to enable visitors to enjoy undisturbed, the Schlossstrasse is closed to the culinary offer.
visitor rank and feedback
Although the market is still in its beginnings, the exhibitors and organizers are optimistic. An example of the great encouragement to artisan markets is the recent market in Kelberg. The premiere was celebrated here: Around 50 exhibitors from all over Germany offered their workshops made of wood, stone and metal and attracted many interested visitors. Peter Schmitt, one of the organizers, noticed the positive response and the high quality of the event. Almost 5000 visitors were welcomed in Kelberg in three days, a number that Burghaun would also like for the coming days. Visitors such as Rita and Leo Freyberg from Daun were enthusiastic and praised the high level of the exhibits.
The positive feedback encourages. Participants from regions such as Cologne and even Luxembourg traveled to experience the creative hustle and bustle - a clear indication that the artisan markets are not only firmly anchored regionally, but are also known and asked across borders. Simone Schäfer, one of the organizers of the Kelberger Markt, already has plans for future events and improvements to make the experience even more attractive for visitors.
cultural diversity in the region
The artisan market in Burghaun is part of a colorful event landscape that shapes the Hessian surrounding area. In addition to this market, there are also numerous other events on Saturday such as a ceramic market in Döbeln and a creative, art and designer market in Berlin. The regionality and the support of local providers are very popular, which offers guests a fascinating variety of experiences and products.
The artisan market in Burghaun is therefore an event that not only brings together the local community, but also celebrates the national artisan scene. A market that connects tradition and innovation and hopes with its numerous offers to attract many visitors. As it looks, a lot of “art and craft” will be important beyond the city limits this year, and that is a reason to celebrate!
