Fulda shakes: Over 5,500 participants in the Rhönenergie Challenge!

Fulda, Deutschland - The city center of Fulda is becoming a pulsating stage for the 19th Rhönenergie Challenge, which attracts over 5,500 participants on June 14, 2025. A real run on the city, because the starting shot will be found in Rangstraße at 3 p.m. The preparation for this event started weeks ago with a virtual phase in which impressive 80,000 kilometers were covered, even though the classic event only begins today. If you want to run spontaneously, you can register on the day of the event from 1 p.m.

This challenge is a combination of virtual and classic event. Since 2020 there has been the virtual version that enables the runners to collect kilometers, no matter where they are. There are two categories for the participants to choose from: You can either take part in the presence event or run from home as part of the virtual event. However, one should hurry peacefully in the team or as a single runner, because the registrations for the presence event closed on May 30, 2025. The running route covers almost seven kilometers and moves through the picturesque streets of the Fulda city center. To loosen up the atmosphere, six bands and dance groups along the route ensure musical accompaniment. Highlights include the appearances of Johnny & The Stones and the fire brigade orchestra dirlos. Project manager Sarah Assi emphasizes the emotional importance of the presence run and invites people of all ages to participate.

The temperatures could climb to 30 degrees, and the participants are encouraged to take enough liquid with them. Imagine while you run the cool water after the strenuous competition - that sounds like a refreshing reward!
