Three days, three rivers: cycling tour through Schwalm, Fulda and Eder!

A highlight of the year for the cycling enthusiasts of SC Steinatal was again the traditional bike tour of everyone who took place on the last weekend in June. This popular event, such as NH24, offers the participants the opportunity to explore the landscapes along the rivers in three exciting days. Various rivers have been used in recent years, including the Elbe in stages. In 2023, however, the group ventured a new adventure and started directly in Ziegenhain to avoid long trips.

To support cyclists, who laid 93 kilometers to Fulda this year, two club members were ready. These took care of the luggage, the medical equipment and the meals. Strengthened with an extensive breakfast at the outdoor pool in Alsfeld, the trip went to the Schwalmquelle after the first stop. The stage also followed the stage on the volcanic cycle path via Lauterbach, where the group could enjoy culinary delights at a barbecue station in the garden of a participant.

bike tour along the rivers and forests

The journey along the Fulda was characterized by impressive 110 kilometers on the second day. The route led through Niederaula, Bad Hersfeld and Rotenburg to Melsungen, where the cyclists stayed in the “Alte Scheune” guest house. In the evening the tired members were strengthened in a Greek tavern.

The third day started with another 78 kilometers on the Fulda cycle path, over Felsberg to the Schwalm cycle path. A special support was at the "snack bar on the harbor" on Lake Singlis, where the athletes could refresh themselves before going to the "Adler" inn in Nieder Grenzbach for the final dinner. A total of three participants mastered the entire route on non -motorized bikes, the "biobikers", and show that passion for cycling can be lived in many forms.
