economic challenges

Wherever you look, it turns out that the job market in North Thuringia also has its challenges. At the end of December 2024, 117,373 people were employed by social security contributions, a decline of 1.8%. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the manufacturing business, the jobs continue. These developments are reinforced by demographic change: 27% of the employees reach retirement age in the next ten years, while only 9% under 25 years old. In addition, the employment participation of foreign nationals has increased to 8.1%, but this is not sufficient to fill the gaps.

On July 5, several events are of interest in Mühlhausen. While in the event location "Mühlhussia" the rock and blues night is celebrated with appearances with well-known bands such as Engerling and Albert Frost trio , the cabaret artist Tatjana Meissner in the Syndikatshof awaits her audience with her current program "Generation Sex!" immerse. There are attractive ticket prices for both events.

In these hot days, IG Bau Nordthüringen also draws attention to the challenges of the summer heat. The union calls for measures to protect employees who work outdoors. This includes employer obligations such as the provision of water and sunscreen flat rates as well as regular encouragement for drinking and using UV-protective clothing.

Another highlight will be the guided hike in the Geo-Naturpark Frau-Holle-Land on July 19. Botanist Kurt Weising will show special plants and take the participants on an exciting discovery tour.

Overall, there is a lot going on in the Eichsfeld and the surrounding area, and the events offer plenty of opportunity to experience local culture and community.
