Hessen championships: bronze and records for Waldeck-Frankenberg!
Wetzlar, Deutschland - What's new from the athletics scene in Hessen? At the Hessen championships of the seasons in Wetzlar, the domestic athletes impressively showed what they were made of. Three seasons from the Waldeck-Frankenberg athletics circle appeared and two medals in-a result that can be seen!
The U16 season, consisting of the talented athletes Feliz Nolte, Emilia Herlitz and Verena Schomberg, secured the bronze medal in the 3 × 800-meter race with an impressive time of 8: 19.45 minutes. Each of the young athletes ran about 2:45 minutes, and Verena made the decisive difference at the finish line by holding the medal with only two seconds. That is exactly what we want to see - team spirit and perseverance!
records and disappointments
To the delight of everyone there was also a new circular record! The U20 Sweden relay, consisting of Lisa Schiffmann, Karolina Bauer, Ylva Eigenbrodt and Pauline Wilhelm, set a time of 2: 27.61 minutes. Despite this great performance, it was not enough for a medal, and so the team ended up in fourth place, only 1.2 seconds behind the bronze.
Another interesting turn was available in the M50 season of the LG Eder. Thorsten Kramer ran the final route of the 3 × 1000-meter race and ended it with a time of 10: 11.94 minutes. The team was only 1.4 seconds behind the winner TSV Pfungstadt. The dissatisfaction with an unfortunate change that might cost the gold medal was noted to the athletes.
medals on international parquet
In addition to these exciting competitions, we take a look across the borders. Pia Meßing from TV Gladbeck and Joana Herrmann from SV Teuto Riesenbeck won medals at the European U20 Athletics Championship in early August. Messing won the silver medal in the heptathlon, while Herrmann finished third in the high jump. Both athletes described their experiences with warm words: Messing felt particularly emotionally supported by the presence of her parents, while Herrmann found the atmosphere to be shared and built.
How will the two talents go on? Messing plans to prove themselves at the German all -around championships in Hanover in September and also aims to qualify for the World Cup in Peru 2024. Herrmann also looks into the future, with goals such as the German championships in the hall and the U23 DM.
The enthusiasm for athletics is an integral part of their life - both are students and juggling training with school obligations. It is particularly impressive how they motivate each other. So Meßing celebrates her colleague during the competition, which Herrmann also spurs on.
The athletics world is varied and presents athletes with challenges that make them grow all the time. Soon we can be excited to see what the next competitions have for our domestic talents!
