Fly plague in Süßenborn: Experts warn of known causes!

In the tranquil community of Süßenborn, the fly plague spreads, but now there are clear announcements. An independent expert has confirmed that the nearby composting system is not the culprit. Flying fly only 50 to 150 meters, while the compost facility is almost 300 meters away. And so it turns out: The fly infestation in the village is even greater than on the composting system itself. Rather, the pastures and stables in the village seem to put on the flies. Regular cleaning is announced here to get the problem under control. In addition, according to a graduate biologist, the attachment of nesting aids for swallows could help to attract the useful little birds again and thus naturally act against flying. Stadtwerke Managing Director Bernd Wagner takes note of the results of the report and explains that the subject of fly plague is concluded for him.

But life in Weimar has other exciting aspects to offer. Particularly noteworthy is the Buchenwald memorial, which since Friday the hiking exhibition of the Arolsen archives shows. The exhibition entitled "Stolen Memory" will be shown until August 6th. Here visitors can look at personal matters of former concentration camp prisoners, such as jewelry, souvenir photos and documents that were taken from the Nazis to the victims. A central concern of this exhibition is to find members of the persecuted and to give them the last personal possessions.

cultural life in Weimar

The cultural aspect in Weimar is also not neglected. The Liszt University is celebrating the 65th edition of its summer master classes this year, which started on Saturday. Around 100 musicians from all over the world came to take part in these courses. The celebrated concert pianist Mikhail Lifits and the cellist Alexey Stadler, who enchanted the audience with their sounds, gave the start of the public concerts. On August 2, the concert friends can look forward to a special highlight when selected participants of the instrumental courses play together with the Jena Philharmonie in the Weimarhalle.

infrastructure measures in deepurt

But something is happening in Weimar. Today the city begins with the comprehensive expansion of Robert-Blum-Straße in Tiefurt. In the course of this construction work, a rainwater canal is installed, the roadway is widened and a new sidewalk is created. A building is intended to derive the collected surface water directly into the ILM. The reason for this measure is a storm event in August 2018, which has flooded and significantly damaged parts of the street and adjacent land. The work will be carried out in several stages under full closure by the late autumn of the next year.

Overall, it shows that in Weimar there is a lot in motion in terms of environmental protection as well as cultural enrichment and infrastructure. The coming time promises to be exciting!
