At around 9:55 p.m., a third accident occurred at the Ohmtaldreieck on the A 49 when a 66-year-old motorhome driver skidded and crashed into the guardrail. The vehicle stopped here, causing damage of around 8,200 euros.

The fourth incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. on the A4 between Friedewald and Bad Hersfeld when a 39-year-old BMW driver from Berlin collided with a tractor-trailer in wet conditions. Here, too, the BMW X5 was totaled, with damage totaling around 20,000 euros.

Finally, at 11:40 p.m., a 27-year-old driver from Baden-Württemberg lost control of his Mercedes bus and crashed into a concrete sliding wall, causing the vehicle to tip over and remain in the flood ditch. All four occupants were injured and taken to hospitals, and here too there was damage of around 40,000 euros.

Appeal for road safety

The police strongly warn against driving in such weather conditions and emphasize the importance of adjusted speed, increased safety distance and regular tire checks to avoid aquaplaning.
