Herb market in Wiesenfeld: music, art and regional delights!
Prepare for a colorful day! The 12th herb market will take place in Wiesenfeld on August 17, 2025. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. everything revolves around the different facets of the world of herbs and regional products around the Johanniterkirche. There will also be a celebratory service at 10 a.m., which will give the market day a special setting.
With over 50 market stalls, a wide range of handicrafts and culinary delicacies are offered. Regional suppliers who boast fresh herbs and other products await visitors. You can do a good deal here and are guaranteed to find one or two delicacies that are worth it!
Diverse program for the entire family
Various ensembles provide the musical accompaniment: the trombone choir, the mixed choir “Mixed Up”, the vocal ensemble “Einfach wir”, the men’s choir ensemble “Man(n) singt” as well as a recorder ensemble and a wind sextet guarantee an entertaining program. The little ones don't miss out either. There is an opportunity to participate in the “Teichwiesen” playground from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and parents can perhaps relax during the lectures by Sylvia Heil, who talks about the linden tree, or with the fairy tales by Philipp Layer.
Guided tours are also offered: whether through the herb garden or on the historical village tours “In the footsteps of the Huguenots” – there is something for everyone. This is a great way to learn more about local history and flora.
More than just a market: a celebration of community
The herb market is not only a commercial enterprise, but also an important part of community life in Wiesenfeld. The event takes place every three years after the Assumption of Mary and has a deep historical connection to the monastic and Huguenot history of the region. Also worth noting is the garden with medicinal and culinary herbs, which has existed since 1991. It was originally maintained by the Protestant women's group and is now looked after by the Wiesenfeld local history association.
To get there, the organizers recommend the Burgwaldbahn or a walk or bike ride, as parking spaces are available on the edge of the village. So if you want to experience a cozy and informative market day, you should mark this date in your calendar!
And the evening event on August 16th from 5 p.m. also promises to be a highlight: the inauguration of the restored village fountain, followed by a twilight drink, looks inviting and celebratory. The whole event shows that both tradition and community are very important in Wiesenfeld.
