The 31-year-old wing striker, who played for the Red Devil in 2018 and 2022, has signed a new contract and will represent the colors of the EC Bad Nauheim in the upcoming DEL2 season. This step marks his third commitment to the association, and both coach Peter Russell and Managing Director Andreas Ortwein are enthusiastic about this return. Russell particularly praised the speed, the strong shot and the striker's work ethic, which will benefit the team. At the current signing of the contract, Russell confirmed: "It is great to have Andrej back in the team".

The player who has been active for HC Banská Bystrica in Slovakia in the past three years has scored a total of 79 points in 173 games. This experiences, as Ortwein emphasized, have matured and further developed him. Andrej describes himself as a more mature player who now returns to Bad Nauheim with a new tactical access. "I learned to take on more defensive tasks and knew that I had to develop further," he explains. The main difference between the Slovak Extraliga and the DEL2 lies in the tactical maturity and the individual quality of the players.

With a view to the upcoming season, Bíreš has a clear goal: "I plan to give 100 percent for the EC team and definitely be a good teammate". His goal is to achieve a playoff participation, convinces that everything is possible in the decisive games. The striker keeps regular contact with coach Russell and of course also follows the developments of his new team about social media.

Preparations for the new section of his career are already in full swing. Andrej is currently training in Banská Bystrica, where he combines ice training with a skills coach and also regularly does strength training. The ice hockey player also pays special attention to his fitness: "I replaced the Thai boxing by mountain biking and keep me so fit," he reveals. The return to Bad Nauheim is also an emotional matter for him: "I feel comfortable here and have kept a lot of friendships from my time," recalls Bíreš.

With the commitment of Bíreš, Bad Nauheim also has the opportunity to fill the fourth quota with a defender.
