Heroes of the future: Dörnigheim students strengthen their social skills!

In Dörnigheim, more precisely at the Werner von Siemens School, this week was all about social skills. Students in the eighth grade of secondary school took part in a project week aimed at strengthening their communication skills and social skills. These skills are central to preparing young people for professional life as they significantly influence interpersonal relationships and effectiveness within teams Compact training explained.

The event took place on the premises of the children's club and in the Bonis Treff in Maintal. The training concept entitled “Work-oriented social skills training” was developed by Susanne Simon-Schramm from the youth education center of the Main-Kinzig district. The students worked under the guidance of Mathias Zittlau, Larry James, Nora Riegel and Daniel Sorg.

Practical exercises mastered responsibly

The students practiced basic social skills, such as teamwork and critical thinking skills, through various cooperative exercises. Among other things, they balanced a marble in a tube or built a tower together. Direct feedback after these exercises gave the students the opportunity to reflect on their behavior and performance. “Self-perception and the perception of others played an enormous role in this process,” said a teacher at the school.

The project week also established a connection to school and the world of work. The students received valuable information and materials to support them in entering professional life. What surprised some participants was the realistic expectations in the world of work as well as the cost of living, which they may have previously considered less dramatic.

Strengthen community and prepare for the future

This week not only promoted individual skills, but also the class community. Cohesion was strengthened and it became easier for the students to communicate with each other. The GNZ emphasizes how important such training is for young people's professional future.

Overall, this project week shows that social skills are enormously important not only for the job, but also for personal development. A good knack for developing social skills can open the doors to many new opportunities - in life, but especially in your professional life.
