Zapparossa Festival 2026: Gelnhausen celebrates its next success!
The first “Zapparossa Culture & Music Festival”, which took place in Gelnhausen in September 2025, was a real surprise success. As the Gelnhäuser Nachrichten reports, the festival attracts many music lovers from all over Germany, but also from Scotland, Spain, Switzerland and the USA. The organizers, Sascha Krieger and Markus Mokler, active members of the “Zapparossa” association, have set a new standard for cultural events in the region.
The roots of the club lie in a Gelnhausen Zappa get-together, and the festival offers a stage for the band “Die miserable(n) Husos”, in which Sascha Krieger works as a singer and guitarist and covers Zappa songs in Hessian. The festival goal was to enliven the various locations in Gelnhausen over three days, which was underlined by a varied program.
Vibrant events and places
The program included a variety of cultural events, including a film screening in the Pali cinema with a portrait of Frank Zappa, concerts in “L’Ulivo Cucina & Pizzeria”, and also a reading in the Künstlerkeller am Untermarkt. The after-show party took place in the Lorbass and the Zappa get-together was organized in the Reinhardsschänke in Altenhaßlau. This diversity shows how the festival not only attracts music lovers, but also enriches local city life.
“The feedback from visitors was consistently positive,” reports Krieger, emphasizing that the festival also contributes to the exploration and revitalization of the city of Gelnhausen, which is supported by a request to the city for a grant to support the festival. The second Zapparossa Festival is already planned for September 11th to 13th, 2026. All six locations from the first festival will take part again, and the Blockhaus will also be included in the program.
International inquiries and future plans
Interest in the festival continues to grow as inquiries have already been received from bands in the Netherlands and Sweden. The organizers show a good knack for how they can further develop the festival. For further information and updates, those interested can visit the website www.zapparossa.de.
Overall, the Zapparossa Festival shows that cultural events not only enrich music, but are also of great importance for urban development. The festival definitely has the potential to be even bigger and better in 2026.
