A new wind in the Königstein magistrate: Hogh and Wagner take over!
There is a breath of fresh air in the municipality in Königstein: two new faces will be working there in the future. Annette Hogh and Matthias Wagner took up their positions in the city council, and the whole thing took place ceremoniously under the eye of the city council leader Dr. Michael Hesse instead. Taunus Nachrichten reports that Annette Hogh, who belongs to the CDU, already has extensive experience in local politics. The 49-year-old political scientist sat on the city council from 2006 to August 2019 and again from April 2021 to the end of 2023. She was also a replacement in the magistrate from 2019 to 2021 and has headed the CDU city association in Königstein since 2009.
On the other hand, we have Matthias Wagner, 50 years old, who works as a lawyer and notary and has lived in Schneidhain since 2020. He is also already familiar with local politics: from 2001 to 2013 he was active as a CDU community representative and parliamentary group spokesman in Münster (near Dieburg) and also made an active contribution to the volunteer fire department. This means that the two new magistrate members have a good idea of how to manage the city's fortunes.
Farewell to experienced politicians
But the farewell also comes with a breath of fresh air: Katja Metz and Norbert Meyer, both from the CDU, are withdrawing from local politics after many years of commitment. Metz, who has been involved in local politics for almost 40 years, served on the Mammolshain local council from 1986 to 2006 and then in the city council from 1989 to 2019. With a nine-year term as chairwoman of the culture, youth and social committee, as well as her final term in the magistrate, she is leaving big shoes to fill. The same applies to Norbert Meyer, who was active for almost 25 years, first in the Schneidhain local council and later in the city council. He has worked in the magistrate since 2021.
The city of Königstein thanked both of them for their tireless efforts. It is important to recognize such dedicated individuals who have contributed to the community for so many years. Königstein emphasizes the importance of voluntary work, which not only shapes local politics, but also directly influences the lives of citizens.
A look at local politics
But what does it all mean in the larger context? Municipal politics in Germany is a crucial area that is often overlooked. Here, citizens have the chance to have their voice heard in decisions that affect their everyday lives - be it sports fields, swimming pools or housing projects. This direct connection to the citizens makes local politics lively and tangible. In Germany, around 11,000 municipalities are responsible for local administration, and mayors or city councilors are often in direct contact with the people. This shows how important every voice is in politics.
In Königstein, the change in the magistrate is both a step into the future and a moment of looking back at the valuable work of the two outgoing members. With fresh ideas and proven knowledge, the city will have an exciting time ahead.
