Tennis star Angelique Kerber becomes a mother again – son Ben is here!
What happy news from the world of tennis! Angelique Kerber, the three-time Grand Slam winner, gave birth to her second child on Sunday. Little Ben was born on June 15th and now enriches the family of Kerber and her partner Franco Bianco, a 41-year-old fitness economist and entrepreneur from near Frankfurt. Kerber shared her big news with a touching Instagram post in which she published a black and white photo of four hands. “Welcome to our family, Ben,” wrote the proud mom, expressing her love and gratitude. Congratulations are pouring in, including from tennis legend Boris Becker, who spoke up in the comments and congratulated Kerber.
Ben is the latest addition to complete the family after daughter Liana, who was born in February 2023. What is particularly noteworthy is that Kerber made her pregnancy public in February 2025 and ended her career in July after the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The young mother has entered a new phase of her life, and it is clear that her perspective as an athlete has changed since becoming a mother. Regarding her mentality on the pitch, Kerber said: “It’s all a little different.”
A new chapter in Bad Homburg
But Angelique Kerber not only wants to shine as a mother, but also as a sports director. She will soon take on responsibility for the tennis tournament in Bad Homburg, which takes place from June 21st to 28th, in a dual leadership role with her manager and tournament director Aljoscha Thron. Known for her passion for the tournament, which she describes as a passion project, she will continue to be fully involved behind the scenes of tennis. Kerber previously worked as an ambassador for the tournament and is now bringing a breath of fresh air to the organization.
After Ben was born, Kerber lived with her partner Bianco in Puszczykowo, Poland, where she runs a tennis academy. The plan is not to move to Germany for the time being. When asked about wedding plans, the focus on family came to mind, because the second child is of course the top priority. While she feels comfortable in her new role as a mother, she will also share her experience and perspectives as an advisor to the German Tennis Federation.
The tennis world will continue to hold Angelique Kerber in its hearts. Her withdrawal from active competitive sports will not mean that she is withdrawing from tennis. Her pregnancy announced today and the birth of her son are just two milestones in an exciting journey that is not yet over. The Kerber-Bianco family is truly on the verge of exciting new adventures.
