Anyone wondering how such a citizens' trip can work should take a look at the partnership association's last trip to Mayrhofen, which started on Thursday. The 28-member tour group enjoyed a pleasant eight-hour bus ride before arriving without incident the same day, reports ISPV Bad Homburg. There the group was warmly welcomed at a champagne reception by the new mayor Monika Wechselberger, followed by an exciting city tour with Ludwig Fleidl, who introduced the beauties of the market town.
A look at the experience
The following days were filled with remarkable experiences. A steam-powered train ride to Jenbach took the group to the glass city of Rattenberg, where there was a coffee break. In the evening there was a meal together in the hotel, followed by a visit to the Church of the Assumption of Mary, where Pastor Jürgen Gradwohl welcomed the guests. An exchange of ideas with the members of the Mayrhofen parish and the St. Marien parish in Bad Homburg rounded off the day.
Finally, on Saturday there was a trip to the Schlegeis reservoir, where the participants learned interesting facts about electricity generation through hydropower. Relaxed with musical entertainment in an alpine hut and with a planned visit to the Hollenzer village festival on Sunday, which had to be canceled due to rain, Sunday was a little different and instead took the group to the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens.
The return journey to Bad Homburg was peppered with a stop at the Mayrhofner dairy, where the participants were able to enjoy the culinary highlights of the region. These experiences underline how valuable such encounters are for intercultural exchange.
