Frankfurt in star fever: Michelin ceremony thrills on June 14th!

On June 14, 2025, the long-awaited Michelin stars will be awarded in Frankfurt am Main, a highlight for the city's gastronomic scene. The ceremony will be hosted by Robert Mangold, the managing director of the Tiger & Palmen Group, who not only manages the event location, the Gesellschaftshaus im Palmengarten, but is also President of DEHOGA Hessen. This year, Frankfurt will be chosen as the venue for the Michelin Guide Ceremony Night for the first time, a significant step for the city on its path to becoming a culinary destination.

As part of the “Stars over Frankfurt” festival, which kicked off on June 1st and offers numerous events until June 15th, guests can enjoy signature dishes in over 200 restaurants in the city. Examples of the creative delicacies include a fried carabinero with yuzu and macadamia rice crunch at the Lafleur restaurant and turbot at the Frankfurt embassy. The celebratory star award ceremony begins with a reception at 5 p.m. and the awards will be announced at 6 p.m. The event will also be broadcast live on the Internet so that no foodie misses anything.

A festival for all senses

The “Stars over Frankfurt” festival is intended to strengthen not only the cuisine, but also the sense of community in Frankfurt's gastronomy. Mangold emphasizes that the city's gastronomy has developed individually and is less dependent on regional trends. This is also reflected in the diversity of the dishes offered by the participating restaurants. The promising candidates for the renewal of a Michelin star include Ricky Saward from the Seven Swans restaurant and Mario Lohninger, whose excellent skills seem long overdue. Martin Weghofer from the Main Tower Restaurant is highlighted as a possible contender for two stars in the near future.

Frankfurt doesn't yet have many restaurants with sustainable concepts, but Restaurant Lafleur could have opportunities in the future. The anonymity of the Michelin inspectors remains a valuable secret as they test culinary quality in a total of 44 countries. The awarding of stars is not just a local matter, but corresponds to an international standard that could also bring Hessian gastronomy into focus.

A look into the future

Interest in culinary events such as the star award ceremony is constantly growing and could bring further gastronomic highlights to Frankfurt in the coming years. The Michelin stars are not only a seal of quality, but also a magnet for gourmets from all over the world. With the constant commitment of restaurateurs and the flagship project “Stars over Frankfurt”, the city is ready to expand its role as a culinary center. It remains to be seen which stars will be awarded on the glittering night of June 14th and which new concepts might get their chance at a Michelin star.

For everyone who would like to enjoy the festive atmosphere and tasty delicacies, the festival offers numerous opportunities to get to know the diversity of Frankfurt's gastronomy. So let yourself be enchanted by the culinary development of the Main metropolis and experience how Frankfurt celebrates the passion for good food.
