New young referees: 22 graduates in Limburg-Weilburg!
On July 5, 2025, the Limburg-Weilburg Referee Association has great news to announce: The 2025 beginners' course was successfully completed. Around 23 participants learned the 17 football rules in a total of 24 learning units and faced the challenges of referee training. The course was led by district instructor Felix Schwarz together with the experienced group league referee Luca Kloft. Together they not only conveyed the rules, but also important topics such as conflict management and violence prevention, which are essential in football.
The course, which included four days of attendance, was supplemented by an online learning platform from the DFB. Participants had to take a theoretical test with 30 questions and a physical fitness test. The result speaks for itself: 22 of 23 examinees passed the exam with flying colors. Particularly noteworthy is the best in the course, Tim Heep, who achieved an impressive 58 out of 60 possible points. Now 13 new referees in the Limburg-Weilburg district can also look forward to their appointment, including Dervis Aksoy and Ralf Bender from TSV Frisch Auf Kirschhofen as well as Maximilian Gohla, who recently celebrated his 13th birthday and is now the youngest active referee.
Support and increase the number of referees
The district referee committee sent a big thank you to TuS Dietkirchen, which provided the necessary rooms and food. Such collaborations are crucial to promote refereeing in the region and increase the number of active referees. The new referees are now being looked after in their first assignments and receive support from experienced colleagues, a system that has already proven itself in many other regions.
As the Baden Football Association reports, the training of new referees is aimed at anyone interested from the age of 12, whether with or without previous knowledge. A driving license model introduced in 2018 combines theory and practice as well as e-learning units to make training more engaging for the younger generation. The theoretical part is followed by practical training, in which the newcomers begin to referee games in lower classes.
The development of referees is a continuous process that does not end with the completion of a course. Regular further training in referee associations is mandatory in order to maintain the quality of refereeing and to promote young talent in the best possible way. With the successful completion of the beginners' course in Limburg-Weilburg, nothing stands in the way of a successful future for the new referees.
Exciting times lie ahead for everyone involved, in which they can apply and deepen their knowledge on the pitch. We wish the new referees much success in their first game officiating!
