Training against sexualized violence: Inform volunteers in Groß-Gerau!
A new training course on the prevention of sexual violence is aimed at volunteers in Groß-Gerau. On January 29, 2026, all interested volunteers aged 28 and over are invited to find out about important legal regulations and how to raise awareness when dealing with vulnerable groups. Bistum Mainz reports that the training covers essential content that is relevant for employees in social areas as well as are of great importance for volunteers.
The two and a half hour event highlights basic information about sexual violence, perpetrator strategies and how to deal with closeness and distance. The focus is also on assessing behavior and recognizing cross-border behavior. It also shows how the prevention order is implemented in the Diocese of Mainz and which reporting channels and support systems are available in the event of suspicion.
Training and costs
Participation in the training is free for volunteers who are active in the Diocese of Mainz. Anyone outside the diocese who is interested can take part for a fee of €15.00. It is recommended that the diocese or the respective provider bear the costs. Furthermore, young people and young adults up to the age of 27 are trained by the Catholic youth offices, which brings the important topics into the minds and hearts of the young people at an early stage.
But that's not all. CaritasCampus also offers a wide range of training courses to prevent (sexualized) violence. According to CaritasCampus, the programs can be completed at different levels, from basic to intensive to management and in-depth. These training courses cover the mandatory training in accordance with the prevention regulations and are aimed at employees in various fields of work such as daycare centers, child, youth and family welfare as well as assistance for the elderly and the disabled.
Diverse learning formats
The training courses are offered both face-to-face and online and also include the blended learning format, which combines face-to-face events with digital learning modules. This hybrid learning format attracts many participants because it combines the advantages of personal interaction with the flexibility of digital learning - a real benefit for anyone who is interested in the topic and also wants to save on travel and meal costs.
These comprehensive offers make an important contribution to raising awareness and education about sexual violence. It remains to be hoped that many volunteers and specialists will take the opportunity to further their education and thus actively contribute to prevention. Together, society can become a little safer and the responsibility for protecting children and other vulnerable people is taken seriously.
